A plea for everyone to move beyond the divisiveness of the moment, upcoming Sherwood School Board race

Let's move past all the divisiveness

It's time for us to come together. It's past time that we move on from the hatred and divisiveness that politics has caused. We have just lived through one of the most divisive and contentious elections in our lifetimes. It is time that we move on and get "back to basics". What do I mean by back to basics? I mean get back to treating everyone with respect, dignity and decency.

We need to start looking at people as Americans. We need to see past people's political views. We can still heave debates about things. Debates are a healthy and important part of our Democracy. When we are debating though, we need to do so respectfully. We don't need to stoop down to calling people's names or threatening others or their families. This type of behavior is childish and yes, UnAmerican. We are all Americans. We all live in the best country on earth! So let us return to the days of treating others with respect, dignity, and basic human decency. Let us return to having healthy, civil debates. Let us leave the name calling and the childish behavior in the past and strive to be better, to treat others with respect!

Reelect Pat Allen to the Sherwood School Board

I have known Pat Allen since the 1990s, when he worked for an Oregon congressman. We have interacted while he worked at Oregon Building Codes Division, Department of Consumer and Business Services, and the Oregon Health Authority. We don't always agree, but he has always been professional. Twenty years ago, we both moved into the same Sherwood neighborhood where our kids grew up together. Pat has given back volunteering at school events, the Robin Hood Festival, his church, and city committees. When Pat accepted the director of OHA there was no foreseeing the pandemic. As the Governor's advisor, we can bemoan his role. Many Oregonians have been devastated by the pandemic and the governor's policies. Members of my household went months unemployed. But the metrics don't lie. Oregon has one of the lowest infections and death rates in the nation. When it comes to Sherwood's schools, during Pat's tenure on the School Board, they have tackle overcrowding and safety. We have seen Sherwood gradually move up the ranks to one of Oregon's premier school districts. To me, personal commitments, and metrics matter! Join me in voting for Pat Allen for Sherwood School Board Position 4.
