Sandy Wallace gives an update on what the Sherwood Robin Hood Festival Association is planning for Dec. 3.

PMG FILE PHOTO - Planning is underway for the Sherwood Holiday Festival. The Sherwood Robin Hood Festival Association (SRHFA) is actively planning the 2022 Holiday Festival.

Every holiday season, SRHFA volunteers assemble 300 to 400 Santa gift bags to give away at the Sherwood Holiday Festival on the first Saturday of December.

We will be accepting candy donations beginning Nov. 1. Candy donation bins will be available at the Sherwood City Hall, Sherwood Public Library and at the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce office, at 16273 S.W. Railroad St. Please put wrapped candy in a bag marked "Robin Hood" and drop it off at one of the locations mentioned by Wednesday, Nov. 16. We thank you in advance.

Be sure to mark your calendars for the annual Holiday Festival on Saturday, Dec. 3, 4 to 6:15 p.m. at Cannery Square Park in Old Town Sherwood.

This special Sherwood tradition will feature a community parade, tree lighting, local choral groups, Santa Claus tent and hot dogs and cookies, free to the public while supplies last.

The popular holiday parade will begin at 4 p.m. at Southwest 12th Street and Sherwood Boulevard. It will wind its way to Cannery Square Park, located at 22622 S.W. Pine St.

Family-friendly entries are welcomed. All parade participants must register.

Parade formation will begin at 3:15 p.m. on Southwest 12th Street, adjacent to the Kohl's parking lot. Look for signs for the parade registration table near one of the Southwest 12th entrances to Kohl's.

The parade ends and the festivities hosted by the Junior and Senior Maid Marian Courts begin. The community gathers at Cannery Square Park to hear local choral groups entertain, celebrate the lighting of the tree and enjoy all of the holiday festivities. Santa and his helpers will welcome children and present them with a special gift (while supplies last).

One can also arrive early and enjoy shopping and dining in Old Town Sherwood.

Make plans to attend this wonderful community event, presented by the Sherwood Robin Hood Festival Association with the support of the City of Sherwood and numerous local sponsors and volunteers. Additional activities are being planned. If you, your family, business or organization have an interest in helping or taking part, please let us know.

The Sherwood Robin Hood Festival Association is a nonprofit organization in service to the community year-round. Volunteers are always welcome.

Meetings are held at 7 p.m. the third Thursday of the month.
