Mark your calendars for the Sherwood Band Boosters' annual Bingo Night on Thursday, Nov. 16.
The fundraiser will benefit both Sherwood middle school band programs. It will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Laurel Ridge Middle School and is open to community members of all ages.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with food (pizza, soda, and candy) available for purchase when the doors open, followed by bingo with prizes at 6:30 p.m.
There will be a special musical performance by members of the Sherwood High School band drumline, and bingo booklets can be purchased at the door.
"We very much appreciate the support in the past of businesses that have donated bingo prizes and the support of community members that have come and enjoyed an evening of playing bingo," said Mike Dyer, the band director for both middle schools.
The proceeds from the evening will go toward paying registration for the advanced bands to attend the Chehalem Valley Band Festival at George Fox University. It also pays for clinicians to come in and work with band students, especially those in beginning band, as well as bringing in the SHS percussion coach to work with middle school drummers throughout the school year.
The money also will help pay for instrument maintenance, which used to be paid for by the district.
