Wrestling, swimming, basketball make for a busy Thursday
This isn't just any Thursday.
This is going to be a very busy Thursday, with plenty of wrestling, swimming and even some basketball on tap for high school squads in the local area.
In Pacific Conference wrestling tonight, Sherwood will host McMinnville in a conference dual match, with varsity bouts set to start at 7 p.m. The Bowmen, who have won three straight conference matches, are 3-1 in Pacific duals coming into tonight's match. McMinnville is 1-3.
In other Pacific Conference matches set for tonight, Glencoe will be hosting Forest Grove.
In Three Rivers League wrestling set for tonight, Tigard will host league-leading West Linn in a league dual, with varsity matches starting at 7 p.m. The Tigers are 2-2 in TRL duals, while the Lions are 4-0.
Tualatin will travel to Lakeridge for a league match tonight, with varsity bouts set to start at 7 p.m. The Timberwolves are 2-2 in TRL matches, while Lakeridge is 1-3.
Also tonight in TRL wrestling, Canby will be home to face Oregon City.
In Three Rivers League swimming, the big meet of the day will be at Tualatin, where the Timberwolves will host West Linn in a Three Rivers League dual meet set to start at 4 p.m. The Tualatin and West Linn girls are both 5-0 in league meets coming into today's contest, meaning the winner will be all alone atop the league standings.
The Tigard boys and girls teams will host Lake Oswego in a league dual meet today starting at 4 p.m.
Elsewhere in league action today, Canby will host Oregon City, and the Lakeridge girls will face St. Mary's Academy.
In Pacific Conference swimming today, the Sherwood squads will face Glencoe in a conference dual meet set to start at 3:45 p.m. at the Shute Park Aquatic and Recreation Center in Hillsboro.
Both Bowmen squads are 3-1 in conference dual meets. Both Glencoe teams are 1-3.
Elsewhere in Pacific Conference swimming competition today, Liberty will travel to Forest Grove, and Newberg will host Century.
In Lewis & Clark League basketball tonight, the Horizon Christian and Westside Christian boys and girls teams will have their rematches in games to be played at Horizon Christian High School.
The boys contest is set to start at 6 p.m. The Westside Christian boys are currently 3-5 in Lewis & Clark League play (11-10 overall), putting the Eagles in fifth place in the league standings. Horizon Christian is 0-8 in Lewis & Clark League games (3-15 overall), putting the Hawks in seventh place in the league standings.
Tonight's girls game is slated to start at 7:30 p.m. The Horizon Christian girls are 6-2 in Lewis & Clark play (12-7 overall), putting the Hawks in second place in the league standings. Westside Christian is 1-7 in Lewis & Clark League play (2-15 overall), putting the Eagles in seventh place in the league standings.
