Goats help clear property near Clackamas River

A herd of goats will help clear weeds Sept. 14 to 20 on a private property near Eagle Creek, as part of the Clackamas River Basin Council's Shade our Streams project.

Once the goats finish munching Himalayan blackberries, English ivy and other invasives, the site will be replanted with native species. The property will serve as a demonstration site for other Shade our Streams projects, which ultimately will bring more than 300,000 new native trees to some 30 miles of river bank.
