Oregon Nature Conservancy seeks volunteers to remove invasives at stunning Cascade Head near Lincoln City

COURTESY THE NATURE CONSERVANCY  - This trail gives a glimpse of the spectacular scenery at Cascade Head. Volunteers are needed for a work party at the Cascade Head Preserve on Saturday, July 22.

Located near Lincoln City, Cascade Head is a promontory overlooking the ocean, providing habitat for native prairie grasses, rare wildflowers, the threatened Oregon Silverspot butterfly and the Cascade Head catchfly. The Nature Conservancy preserve is one of the loveliest spots on the Oregon Coast.

Volunteers will remove Canada thistle from the pinnacle, an area closed to the public.

The project requires a four- to five-mile hike with some elevation gain.

Bring hiking shoes, a daypack, lunch and snacks, a water bottke, hat, sunscreen and raingear.

Gloves will be available to borrow.
