Oregon Just Transition Alliance hosts event at Glenhaven Park on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 8

COURTESY PHOTO  - Oregon climate activists display giant salmon. Climate activists will gather at a Northeast Portland park Saturday, Sept. 8, as part of a national action day dubbed Rise for Climate, Jobs and Justice.

The local event, hosted by the Oregon Just Transition Alliance, will be at Glenhaven Park, 7900 N.E. Siskiyou St., from noon to 4 p.m. The event will feature speakers on climate justice, including fossil fuel export projects, immigration and community energy.

The Oregon Just Transition Alliance is anchored by OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon, Unite Oregon, Rural Organizing Project, APANO, PCUN, and Beyond Toxics.

The alliance has been working on a set of strategic priorities for climate action, and will present some of those at the Sept. 8 event.
