Local business offers wine among the vines event
Tucked away off the beaten path in Sandy is "one of Sandy's best kept secrets:" Alder Tree Vineyard.
Owner and vintner Terry Lorentson spends most of his days tending his crops, making wine and serving tastings to those fortunate enough to come across the cozy and scenic spot at 34944 S.E. Colorado Road.
In an effort to build awareness of all the business has to offer and share their beautiful grounds, Lorentson and his family are hosting a "Date Night at the Vineyard" event for couples from 4:30-9 p.m. Friday, July 28.
Couples are responsible for bringing their own blankets and/or lawn chairs, and wine will be available for purchase by the glass or by the bottle.
Attendees can also buy plates of local meats and cheeses from Adamson Custom Butchery in Estacada and prepared by the Lorentsons, or pack in their own picnics.
"We get to enjoy this place all the time and we want to invite others to enjoy it as well," Kaari Gardener, Lorentson's daughter and marketing specialist, noted. "Ultimately, it's a really beautiful place, (and) we're just trying to do something fun and different that we haven't done before."
For entertainment, there have been talks of providing soft background music and large lawn games, such as Jenga, for couples to play.
"We like to have people enjoy the winery," Lorentson said.
Alder Tree has four different wines to choose from: chardonnay, pinot noir, pinot gris and a rosé .
