Girl safe after man tries to take her from area of Fairway Avenue, Welches Road

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO: CLACKAMAS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - The suspect of an attempted kidnapping in Welches is described as a young Hispanic or Native American man, 6-feet-0  with long, dark braided hair and a slender build.The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is investigating an attempted kidnapping that occurred around 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 22, in Welches, and is asking for public assistance to identify the suspect.

Deputies are looking for a young Hispanic or Native American man, 6-feet tall with long, dark, braided hair and a slender build.

He wore a long-sleeved shirt and a beanie.

He is said to have tried to grab the 10-year-old girl as she rode her bicycle in the area of East Fairway Avenue and East Welches Road. The girl was able to fight the man off, causing him to run from the scene and escape in an older, dark-colored SUV or pickup.

The vehicle was described as having a matching canopy and several bumper stickers decorating the rear window, one notably spelling out "REVENGE."
