Collision on Highway 26 on Saturday, July 7, results in serious injuries, damage

Two were hospitalized after a serious injury crash in Government Camp on Saturday, July 7. Oregon State Police were called to the scene of a collision on Highway 26 near Government Camp Loop at 4:45 p.m. July 7. A juvenile driver from Happy Valley operating a 2011 Chrysler 200 was struck by a 2003 Ford F350 while attempting to turn eastbound on the highway.

Ford driver Bruce Dyal, 19, of Brightwood was not severely injured. The driver of the Chrysler and passenger Ya-Chu Matilda Chuang were transported to Oregon Health & Sciences University in critical condition. The other juvenile occupant of the Chrysler received only minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Police have ruled out speeding and alcohol as contributing factors to the crash, and all occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Oregon Department of Transportation, Hoodland Fire Department, the U.S. Forest Service and All-Ways Towing Company assisted police at the scene.
