Local barber raises funds for Sandy VFW
Pioneer Barber Shop owner Paul Padilla will give up a day of revenue by offering haircuts by donation to boys and men in the community. The money raised during the day is donated to the Sandy Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4273.
Padilla will offer free haircuts — donations greatly appreciated — from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Pioneer Barber Shop, 38776 Pioneer Blvd.
Over the past six years Padilla has raised about $4,500 for the local VFW. Padilla has had several family members serve in the military, including his son, and he considers his annual fundraiser as his way to give back.
"It's worth one day to give up," Padilla said.
Throughout the year, Padilla offers a free haircut to first-time customers who are veterans, and he charges seniors and veterans a discounted rate.
