Clackamas Fire opens burn ban for weekend
Backyard and agricultural burning is closed within the Clackamas Fire service area effective immediately because of prolonged high temperatures and lack of rainfall.
Clackamas Fire put out a release announcing the closure and promising to reevaluate the status of burning on Monday, May 13.
People are still permitted to use approved recreational fires and barbecues with caution.
Clackamas Fire encourages all residents to use the spring season to study their property and possible defensible spaces in preparation for the event of a wildfire. To reduce the risk of fire spreading to a residence, officials recommend people:Keep gutters free of debris Remove "ladder fuels," such as any tree limbs, tall grasses or shrubs that could allow flames to travel Maintain regular watering to keep plants and grass green Relocate any wood piles or other flammable materials away from your house
