Blowing snow and fog create hazardous driving conditions on Highway 26 over Mount Hood at Government Camp

Timberline Road was closed at Highway 26 amid deteriorating weather Tuesday night on Mount Hood and in Government Camp.

Blowing snow and fog brought extremely low visibility along the road, which is Oregon 173, making driving extremely hazardous.

The status of the road will be re-evaulated Wednesday morning.

A few crashes were reported Tuesday along Highway 26, and ODOT crews worked through the night to keep up with the snowfall and blowing snow.

If travel through the area is unavoidable, use extreme caution and be prepared for hazardous conditions and slow travel. Go to for highway updates.
