Oregon Trail School District teachers eligible for cash prize, recognition at May event

The parents, students and community members of the Oregon Trail School District have spoken and seven teachers from the district will go on to be considered for the Clackamas Regional Teacher of the Year award.

Among those nominated from the Sandy area are:

? Linda Brown, kindergarten teacher at Naas Elementary

? Ryan Cauch, special education teacher at Sandy High

? Julie Frederick, social studies teacher at Sandy High

? Elsie McIver, second grade teacher at Oregon Trail Academy

? Bob Salveter, language arts teacher at Sandy High

? Kim Sanders, kindergarten teacher at Kelso Elementary

? Cari Swoboda, language arts teacher at Sandy High

These educators are eligible to be selected as Clackamas Regional Teacher of the Year, and if chosen will be in consideration for the title of 2021 Oregon Teacher of the Year.

Regional winners receive a cash prize of $500 and are celebrated across the state in May. The 2021 Oregon Teacher of the Year will receive a $5,000 cash prize and a matching prize for their school. The 2021 winner will also serve as a spokesperson for Oregon educators.

Teachers' deadline to submit applications is March 27. Oregon Education Service Districts will select the regional winners.

The 2021 Teacher of the Year will be named in September from the pool of regional winners.
