Gift baskets, gift cards available for winners of weekly drawings in bingo game

PMG FILE PHOTO: BRITTANY ALLEN - Though the Chamber encourages people to stay home, the director Khrys Jones has pointed out ways to support businesses without going out. In an effort to provide a safe, socially responsible activity for the community during this time when everyone must stay home, the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce has created a Support Local Bingo game, sponsored by Paula Siverly of Caliber Home Loans.

The Bingo board includes a range of tasks, from the super simple, "Take a deep breath. We will get through this and be stronger," to more active-yet-doable like "Order takeout from a local restaurant" or "Write a positive Yelp review for a local business."

"We're really trying to find a way to keep people from focusing on the negative," Executive Director Khrys Jones said. "I really just want to encourage kindness and positivity right now."

To play, keep connected to the chamber's Bingo Facebook post, sharing how you are taking action to "keep our Sandy area economy thriving."

Type "Bingo" when you have completed five in a row or all four corners and your name will be entered into a weekly drawing.

"Make sure to include in the comments the businesses or actions that you completed and tag the business," Jones added.

The bingo game will continue on a weekly basis as long as possible.

Each week there will be one or two winners. This week there are prizes for two winners — a basket of baking supplies and a $25 gift card to a chamber business of your choice.

The chamber is accepting items and baskets from businesses to use as prizes. For more information, call Khrys Jones at 503-668-4006.

"We're trying to help businesses without encouraging people to be out," Jones noted. "We can't go out, but we can still support our local businesses and help them as much as possible."

The bingo card is available virtually on the chamber's Facebook page at
