The Sandy High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) department has received $24,000 in grant funds to further educational goals in the 2020-21 school year. Five Sandy CTE programs recently received dollars from the Clackamas ESD and Oregon Department of Education through the federal Perkins Grant.

"The funds will directly impact student learning by providing increased access to industry standard equipment and training," according to a statement from the Oregon Trail School District.

The following departments received funds for a variety of purposes:

• Agriculture: Industry-specific labs and hands-on materials will be added to the program to increase students' technical skills and knowledge.

• Art Production: Educators will use funds to purchase materials, such as casting torches and machines. Wax injectors and buffing wheels will support product design and production skills.

• Automotive: New training engines purchased with grant funds will increase students' hands-on learning opportunities.

• Engineering: Educators will buy additional 3-D printers and receive professional development to become certified in Project Lead the Way.

n Integrated Media: Newly purchased broadcasting equipment will allow students to participate in live broadcasting events.
