Carmony replaces Anderson as chairman of Oregon Trail school board
Oregon Trail School District Board of Directors is now under new leadership. At the board's meeting, Monday, June 22, former chairman DJ Anderson expressed that he was not interested in a fourth year as chairman and the board elected long-time member Randy Carmony to replace Anderson.
"I wanted to spend more time with family," Anderson said. "Randy will do a great job."
Carmony has served as chairman before, stepping down before his term limit when former chairman Terry Lenchitsky took the position in 2015.
"The timing now with DJ stepping down was just right," Carmony said. "(My goal is to) try to get the board to be more cohesive and move us forward."
Carmony also expressed interest in having the Oregon School Boards Association come in to conduct trainings.
"I want to make sure everybody is aware of their roles and responsibilities," he explained. "I thank DJ for all of his service and work and Kurt also, for that matter. This has definitely been an interesting year to be serving in."
Board member Robert Lee was also elected to replace Kurt McKnight as vice chairman and accepted the position.
