Residents of Welches, Zigzag, Rhody and Government Camp should 'Get Ready' in case of need to evacuate

COURTESY PHOTO: CAROLANNE PLATT - Hoodland Fire District is now entirely under Level 1. The air is thick with smoke on Mount Hood. Hoodland Fire announced this morning that the district is in Level 1, "Get Ready," evacuation because of nearby wildfires.

"We are urging you to use this time to calmly plan," Hoodland Fire officials said.

The Hoodland Fire District comprises of Welches, Zigzag, Rhododendron and Government Camp on Mount Hood, and the response area runs approximately 45 square miles on Highway 26 from near milepost 32, east of Baty Road, to near milepost 57, east of Snow Bunny.

Level 1 is the lowest level of a three-tiered evacuation system. In Level 1, residents are encouraged to make a plan for how to safely evacuate and ensure that valuables and supplies are ready to go in case the evacuation order is given.
