Sandy community creates relief center for evacuees
A group of Sandy community members including volunteers from the Sandy Community Action Center and Sandy's Helping Hands have set up an evacuee relief center at the Sandy Les Schwab Tire Center on Highway 26, at 37895 Mount Hood Highway.
At the center, volunteers hand out food boxes, toiletries, wipes and clothing to those in need. The effort has been going from 9 a.m. to 6 a.m. for the past few days, and it will continue day-by-day as needed.
For those in a position to help, volunteers are running low on peanut butter, jelly, paper bags, bread, canned meat, milk, easy meal options, size 4 and 5 diapers, baby food pouches, and tampons and pads. All of those goods and supplies can be dropped off at the Les Schwab.
Those in need can simply drive up and be assisted by volunteers at the relief site.
