Vaccination rate slowly creeps upward in Sandy area
As of Wednesday, June 2, 8,357 people, or 44.2% of the total population in the Sandy ZIP code of 97055, have been fully vaccinated. That said, the same ZIP code has reported 1,113 COVID-19 cases or 6,415 cases per 100,000 people this past week, an increase of 15 cases since last week.
Vaccination rates vary greatly in the communities closest to Sandy. Here are the standings of the neighboring communities:
• Welches (ZIP code 97067): 1,262 people of the 1,745 population are vaccinated, with 72.3% vaccination rate.
• Rhododendron/Zig Zag (ZIP code 97049): 812 people of the 1,647 population are vaccinated, with a 49.3% vaccination rate.
• Boring area (ZIP code 97009): 4,013 people of the 8,603 population are vaccinated, with a 46.6% vaccination rate.
• Boring area (ZIP code 97089): 6,401 people of the 13,765 population are vaccinated, with a 46.5% vaccination rate.
While several counties have moved to lower risk restrictions, including Multnomah County, because they achieved a vaccination rate of at least 65% of residents 18 and older (with at least one dose), Clackamas County remains in high risk until at least June 10.
On June 2, 223,895 people in Clackamas County had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, accounting for 5,249 people per 10,000 vaccinated, of the total population of the county of 426,515. Thus far the area of Clackamas County with the highest vaccination rate, 80.1%, is the area of ZIP codes 97034 and 97036, which contain Lake Oswego and West Linn.
Statewide, the Oregon Health Authority reported on June 2 that "the seven-day running average is now 21,005 doses per day."
By June 2, 52.7% in Oregon were at least partially vaccinated, with 9% vaccinations in progress and 43.7% vaccinations completed.
