Verizon prepares students for back to school with giveaway
Though school's out for summer, Sandy Verizon-Cellular Plus is hoping to get children ready for the next academic year with a giveaway.
From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 31, staff will be handing out free backpacks with school supplies at the store, 17390 S.E. Bluff Road.
"We are thrilled to be able to give back to our local community and help students kick off the school year with a brand-new backpack," Verizon-Cellular Plus President Adam Kimmet said. "Our goal is to help make it a little easier for families to get these essential supplies so that students can start off the school year prepared and confident."
Verizon-Cellular Plus collects donations for the Backpack to School program from employees and guests in the stores to help as many families as possible. Donations are redistributed locally.
Those who attend the giveaway are not required to make a purchase to participate. However, a child must have an adult present to claim their free backpack. Backpacks will be distributed while supplies last.
