Rochelle Anderholm-Parsch to succeed former recreation director Tanya Richardson

COURTESY PHOTO: CITY OF SANDY - Rochelle Anderholm-Parsch will take the helm of the Sandy Parks and Recreation department on Nov. 8. After four years with the city of Sandy, former Parks and Recreation Director Tanya Richardson left for a new adventure in California this June. Now, a successor for Richardson has been chosen, and Sandy will welcome Rochelle Anderholm-Parsch as its new director come Nov. 8.

"I am looking forward to working with city staff, the community, local organizations, and the parks and recreation team to enthusiastically meet the needs of the growing Sandy community," Anderholm-Parsch said.

Anderholm-Parsch has two decades of past parks and recreation management experience, serving previously as the aquatic and recreation manager for Oregon City. Starting at Oregon City in 2006, she managed "multiple successful parks capital improvement projects, revitalized the city's aquatic facility and was instrumental in building widely popular special events and community programming including an award-winning summer concert series," according to a statement from the city of Sandy.

"Rochelle's enthusiasm, drive, and experience (are) what our city needs to elevate and lead our new Parks and Recreation department," said City Manager Jordan Wheeler.

Anderholm-Parsch holds an executive master's degree in public administration from Portland State University. She is also certified as a parks and recreation professional and an aquatic facility operator.

"With her broad skills and experience, Rochelle will be a vital member of Sandy's leadership team as the city continues working to develop the Community Campus site (formerly Cedar Ridge Middle School), expand recreation programming, support local seniors, and implement the newly-adopted parks and trails master plan to meet the needs of our community now and into the future," said city representatives.
