Sandy Fire still investigating Thursday morning blaze at Firwood Elementary
Sandy Fire personnel are still investigating a morning fire at Firwood Elementary School that required a multiple-vehicle response and evacuation of students from the school at 42900 S.E. Trubel Road.
At 9:01 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, two engines and two water tankers from Sandy Fire, accompanied by several volunteer and partner agency rigs responded to an alarm at the school.
Sandy Fire Chief Phil Schneider reports that the cause of the alarm appears to have been a small bathroom fire. Crews left the scene after an hour and 18 minutes, according to PulsePoint.
"I don't believe there was any damage," Schneider explained, adding that the incident is still being investigated by a fire marshal.
No students or staff were reported to be injured by the fire.
