Nutz-n-Boltz Theater Co. opens sit-com at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, at Boring-Damascus Grange Hall

COURTESY PHOTO: NUTZ-N-BOLTZ THEATER CO. - Over the course of about two hours, six actors will portray 57 different characters in the Nutz-n-Boltz Theater Co. production of 'The Dining Room.'As the old adage says: "You can't choose your family." However, you can choose your seat at the table in "The Dining Room."

Starting May 20, the Nutz-n-Boltz Theater Co. will turn their stage at the Boring-Damascus Grange Hall into a representation of the traditional family dining room. While the characters using it will change, the dining room furniture and tradition that long brought families together will stay the same in the cast's production of the 1982 A.R. Gurney play.

"It's very relevant," said theater company co-founder Kelly Lazenby. "More and more people aren't eating together as a family. (In this play) even though the generations go by, the dining room is still there. The family dynamic is there."

Over the course of about two hours, six actors will portray 57 different characters, and the show revolves around what's said — and what goes unsaid — around the dining room table.

"I really like the story; it's well written," Lazenby said. "It's a neat theatrical piece."

The play is a family friendly situational comedy that will feature a few new faces to the Boring stage.

The production runs from May 20 through June 5, with shows at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are available online at nnbtheater.com/theater.
