Naas Elementary principal to retire, OTA director to transfer
After 18 years of serving Boring-area families and students as principal of Naas Elementary School, Kimberly Brooks will retire this summer. Brooks took the helm at Naas in 2004.
"Naas staff and students have flourished under Kimberly's leadership," said Oregon Trail School District Superintendent Aaron Bayer. "She has proven time and again to be one of the best in public education and will be dearly missed." Rachel Weeks, who is currently serving as the director of Oregon Trail Academy, has accepted the position of Naas Principal, effective July 1.
According to a statement from the school district "Weeks stood out as the top candidate in 2021 when the OTA Board of Directors hired her as the school's administrator."
During her time at OTA, she is said to have used a "student-centric approach" and "worked diligently to raise the bar for students and staff."
"Rachel is a selfless leader who puts the school community first," said Bayer.
The OTA board is still in the recruitment/hiring process to choose who will take over as director of OTA for the 2022-2023 school year.
