Hieb leads in running for House District 51
UPDATE: As of 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, Rep. James Hieb, R-Canby, remains in the lead to retain the House District 51 seat with 64.30% of the vote to his opponent Sandy Democrat Walt Trandum's 35.5%.
HD 51 went through major shifts in the fall of 2021 with the passage of Senate Bill 881 and Senate Bill 882, and serious redistricting that brought in a new group of leaders.
House District 39 was turned into House District 51, which then had lines redrawn to include the city of Sandy, as well as Estacada, Canby and large swaths of unincorporated rural Clackamas County, including Redland and Beavercreek outside of Oregon City.
Hieb was the incumbent for HD 39 — now HD 51 — after being appointed by county leadership following the resignation of Christine Drazan so she could focus on her bid for governor.
The Post will update this story after Clackamas County's next release of results at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9.
