The Mt. Hood Community College Board has one contested race and two uncontested races on the May 18 ballot.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The Outlook is providing it's recommendations on local school boards races appearing on the May 18 ballot.

ZONE 2

TEUNECANDIDATES: James Zordich (incumbent) and Marie Teune

We're recommending the election of Marie Teune of Sandy to replace incumbent James Zordich on the Mt. Hood Community College Board of Education in Zone 2, which covers the area from South Gresham through Sandy and east along the Mount Hood Corridor.

Zordich has been a faithful and dependable member of the board for two terms, but the simple fact of Teune's deep connections in the Sandy community make her the ideal candidate. As a member of the Oregon Trail School Board, she'll become an invaluable bridge between the Sandy-area schools and college. That's something that's been missing, and that Zordich can't match.

Teune has been an active member of the Sandy community for more than 40 years, most recently serving as a member of the Oregon Trail School Board. She's also served on the Oregon Trail Budget Committee, Oregon Trail Education Foundation, Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce, Sandy Tackle Football Board, Sandy High School Booster Club, and Parent/Teacher Club committees at Boring Middle and Naas Elementary schools.

RECOMMENDATION: Elect Marie Teune
