Sandy High School Senior All-Night Party committee holds creative fundraiser

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO - Katie Fisher, Wyatt Fisher and exchange student Pavil Tvrznik pose with the Pioneer Pete cutout that will be making the rounds through Sandy. While some groups bombard yards with plastic pink flamingos, the Sandy High School Senior All-Night Party committee will grace your space with a wooden cutout of school mascot Pioneer Pete, coonskin cap and all.

As an effort to raise funds for the senior all-night party, the committee will transfer Pioneer Pete around town at the request of donors. For $20 someone can impose Pete upon a friend or neighbor, and for $20 the recipient can get Pioneer Pete moved off of their lawn to another.

"I think it gives everybody more of an opportunity to be involved," said committee member DeeAnn Fisher. "It can go to business or to anyone's home."

Pete started his rounds at Fisher's home before trekking to the first unsuspecting Sandyite's yard.

The committee's donation goal is $20,000, which will all go to fund the party for Sandy High's class of 2018.

"The main priority is to keep our seniors safe on graduation night," Fisher explained. "We want them to have a memorable night — to really make it fun and something they'll never forget."

Though Pete may take a brief vacation from his travels during the holiday season, the committee has created a Facebook page so that the community can track Pete's whereabouts.
