Library staff invite all to celebrate children, books
Those who love to travel often turn to books as a resource for gaining a glimpse of other cultures and lives. To celebrate books, and the children who delight in them, the staff at the Sandy Public Library, 38980 Proctor Blvd., will host a Dia de los Ninos and Dia de los Libros event from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 27.
The event will feature several activities offered by local partners of the library, such as AntFarm YouthCore, Wy'East Artisans Guild, the Sandy Community Action Center and others.
"I enjoy seeing the people from the Hispanic community join the larger community and interacting and enjoying activities together," said Katie Murphy, event coordinator.
The celebration will offer several activities including crafts, games, dance performances, face painting, cake, live music and much more.
This is a bilungual event. There will also be a shuttle running between Vista Apartments and the library for those in need of transportation.
Murphy warned that parking might get tight, so arriving early is advised if driving to the event.
"I think it's a really lovely time to celebrate children and come together as a community," Murphy noted.
