Camo Con encourages community to have a pint for a nonprofit
Saturday, Nov. 9, Sandy's Helping Hands invites all those over age 21 to come out for a night on the town for a good cause. The sixth annual Camo Con Pub Crawl will begin at 7 p.m. at Ria's Bar, 39024 Proctor Blvd., Sandy, and raise money for the Sandy-based nonprofit group, which provides financial assistance to those in need, helps families at Christmas and much more every year.
"It's really to celebrate our volunteers and the community and bring business to the area," said SHH founder Machel Heldstab. "It's also our only fundraiser for the year. This is what supports us."
At 7 p.m. there will be a group photo taken at Ria's to commemorate the crowd that attends.
Nine different bars will be involved this year, setting a record for business participation. Those bars include: Ria's Bar, Two Mikes Saloon, Red Shed Public House, Brady's Burgers and Brats, Paola's Pizza Barn, Boring Brewing, the Sandy Veteran of Foreign Wars Post No. 4273, No Place Saloon, Beer Den and Gateway Pub.
"You don't have to drink to have fun," Heldstab added. "There are some really good dinner deals out there."
Several of the bars will provide specials for the night of the crawl, some including dinner deals. Ria's will actually provide karaoke and a mechanical bull.
"It's exciting to have new businesses participating," Heldstab noted. "I think it makes it more fun and represents Sandy coming together."
Bracelets for entrance are $15 and available at the participating businesses or online at bit.ly/camocon2019.
