Mount Hood ski resort offers event for all ages, abilities on Tuesday, Dec. 31

COURTESY PHOTO - The Mt. Hood Meadows New Years Eve party includes a fireworks show, which is open to all on Dec. 31. How do you typically spend your New Year's Eve? At Mt. Hood Meadows, there's a celebration for everyone. Whether you want just a nice meal, a party and/or to watch a fireworks show above the snow, Meadows has you covered.

From 6 p.m. to midnight Tuesday, Dec. 31, the ski resort will offer live music, a buffet dinner and a fireworks show to celebrate the arrival of 2020.

"The buffet is extravagant, but the feel of the event is fairly informal," said Dave Tragethon, Meadows' marketing vice president. "You'd have a hard time finding a better buffet. There's an energy in Vertical during this event."

Dinner and admission to the party do require advance purchase, but anyone can come up the mountain just to watch the fireworks.

"It's a unique event," Tragethon said. "The fireworks on the snow is a more sensory experience than other shows."

There will be a DJ spinning tracks at 8:15 p.m. and then the band, Counterfeit Hits, will play from 9:15 p.m. to 12:15 a.m.

A kids party will also be available, including a photo booth, DJ, and non-alcoholic "champagne toast" with a balloon drop at 9:45 p.m.

The chairlift will be open during the event.

Those who don't care to drive to Meadows can hitch a ride on a bus at the Monarch Hotel in Clackamas.
