The fall preps sports season officially begins with Monday's first day of practice

SANDY POST: MATT RAWLINGS - Sandy High football coach Joe Polamalu is encouraged by what hes seen from his team during the summers 7-on-7 season. Coming off a Northwest Oregon Conference title in 2016, the Sandy football program has been fully immersed in summer workouts for two months now, with daily doubles starting on Monday.

With the graduation of all-conference quarterback Grayson Kansala, the Pioneers have three different quarterbacks that have been competing for the starting job since the start of summer.

Senior Tyler King, junior Colton Gorski and sophomore Chet Chamberlin all got some significant reps during 7-on-7 competition during June and July. Sandy head coach Joe Polamalu was impressed with what he saw from his quarterback crew.

"7-on-7 was really solid this summer. We were able to carry both a varsity and a JV team to those events and we were really impressed with some of the things that we saw out of the guys," Polamalu said.

Look for our expanded story, along with a season schedule, ahead in our Aug. 9, print edition.
