SANDY — In their first road test of the season, David Douglas proved that they had some resiliency in them.

Jie Tan had a game-high 19 points for David Douglas, helping the Scots came back from a double-digit first half deficit to beat Sandy 48-42 on Wednesday night.

"Coming out, we were a little bit sluggish. I think at halftime, after we got together and had a little talk. You saw a different group out there in the second half," David Douglas head coach Chris Cavanaugh said. "This was good for us to get a win in a hard-fought game."

David Douglas's Savannah Proske had 10 points and was 8-of-9 (.888) from the foul line. Sandy freshman Brooklyn Adams led the Pioneers with 13 points and Marley Salveter chipped in with 11 points.

"It was all about our mindset. We did great in the first half, but you could see our demeanor change in the second half when (David Douglas) starting knocking down some shots," Sandy head coach Nechele Bradshaw said.

Salveter got off to a hot start to begin the game, making her first three shots and giving the Pioneers the 13-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. David Douglas stayed in a full-court press the entire game and Salveter was able to dribble through defenders and get to the rim in the first 16 minutes.
