MILWAUKIE — Sandy took third place at the NWOC district wrestling meet last weekend at Rex Putnam High School, ending Saturday with a pair of district champions and 10 athletes advancing to the state meet — which starts this Friday at Memorial Coliseum.
Jack Rademacher at 182 pounds and Iosefa Polamalu at 285 pounds were crowned district champions after winning their title bouts. Hunter Rickman (132) Levi Rotzien (138) and Max Topliff (160) were second-place finishers in their individual divisions.
Rademacher scored 11 points in the first period of his title bout before pinning his opponent less than a minute into the second round.
Polamalu was deadlocked 2-2 heading into the final two minutes of the heavyweight final before going ahead when his opponent was penalized for stalling. A takedown moments later secured his 5-2 win.
