The Sandy boys are favorites heading into district, while the girls look to avenge loss to Wilsonville

SANDY POST: MATT RAWLINGS - Sandys Dayne Gordien has the top mark in the state, regardless of classification, in the shot put and discus this spring. The Sandy boys track team went 8-0 during the conference dual season and was dominant with each victory. The next step for the Pioneers will be to lock up their second straight conference title this week.

"Our goal is a district title, but our number one goal as always is to qualify as many athletes as we can to the state meet," Sandy head coach Anouxa Vixathep said. "If we take care of that goal, then a district championship will come."

The Northwest Oregon Conference district meet takes place Thursday and Friday at Hare Field in Hillsboro.

GIRLS

Despite not being healthy for most of the season, the Sandy girls track team still finished with a 7-1 record during the dual season, with their only loss coming to Wilsonville last month.

"When we lost to Wilsonville at the dual meet, we weren't at 100 percent," Sandy head coach Anouxa Vixathep said. "The district meet scoring favors our team a little bit more though. We don't have much depth, but we do have the big guns that are going to score us a lot of points."
