Summer Hoops: Playing At Full Stregth, The Pioneers Pile Up The Wins In Seaside

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO - The Sandy boys basketball team poses in front of the trophy case at Warrenton High School after winning the title at a coastal camp last week.

The Sandy boys basketball team won all four of its games to claim the bracket at a team camp in Seaside last week.

The Pioneers pulled off three of those wins on the last day, capped with a victory over Black Hills in the late-night finale. The week marked the first time this summer that Sandy had its lineup at full strength with high-scoring guard Pierce Roeder returning from ankle surgery.

"We were all over the map this summer in terms of wins and losses, but we had everyone at Seaside and it was nice to see us more whole," Sandy coach Jason Maki said. "The Mount Hood Conference seriously will be the best conference in the state next year, so we know we still have a lot of work to do to be competitive."
