Pair of Sandy High graduates race at Greater Northwest championship meet in Montana

WESTERN OREGON ATHLETICS: BRIAN KORTZ - Western Oregon senior Grace Knapp (804) led the Wolves with a fifth-place overall finish at last weekends conference championship meet.

• Knapp finished fifth overall at the Greater Northwest Athletic Conference championship meet Saturday in Billings, Mont., covering the 6K distance on a snow-packed course in 22:04.30. The Wolves finished sixth in the team tally.

"We toughed it out through the snow and win better than anyone could have expected," Knapp said. "It showed that we have a lot of grit, and we're going to bring that competitiveness to the regional meet."

Western hosts the Division II West Regional on Saturday, Nov. 9.

• Bierfly filled Concordia's No. 5 spot, placing 85th overall at Saturday's Greater Northwest Athletic Conference championship meet. He covered the 8K course in 30:21.3 on a snowy day in Billings, Mont.
