Sandy girls win two straight, while boys team stays in the chase for a wildcard spot

Friday, Feb. 14

SANDY 64, REYNOLDS 39 — Jaclyn McCrea hit a trio of 3-pointers, and scored 17 of her game-high 20 points in the middle two quarters to carry Sandy to the win. Ashley Allinger went 6-for-8 at the free-throw line and added 10 points.

Sandy finished the week fifth in the Mount Hood Conference with a 5-6 league record.

Brisa Avalos connected on four third-quarter field goals to lead Reynolds with 16 points, while Sasha Riddle hit four first-quarter buckets and finished with 14 points.

Tuesday, Feb. 11

SANDY 58, GRESHAM 16 — The Pioneers held Gresham to four buckets through the first three quarters to take a 47-11 lead into the fourth. Sydney Brewster hit four first-quarter shots and finished with a game-high 17 points, despite not seeing the floor in the fourth quarter. Brooklyn Adams added nine points in the win.


Friday, Feb. 14

SANDY 75, REYNOLDS 31 — The Pioneers sprinted to a 25-3 lead at the end of the first quarter with Kaleb Hubbard hitting a trio of 3-pointers. Pierce Roeder finished with a game-high 19 points, while Hubbard added 17 and Tanner Brewster scored 16.

Sandy evened its season record at 11-11 and pulled to within a game of Gresham in the league standings. The Pioneers, ranked No. 29, are in position for a wildcard spot into the 6A playoffs.
