This year's team sent 23 wrestlers to regionals where they competed against hundreds of other Oregon wrestlers on Saturday, March 5, at Woodburn High School.

"Since it was our first year back since COVID, it was nice to make it to regionals," said Sandy's assistant coach BJ Grimmer.

Although none of the Sandy middle schoolers were able to qualify for the state championship tournament, Grimmer thinks that this year's strong showing could lead to success down the road.

Grimmer also said that he was proud of the team's strength and fortitude through the season.

"We often have kids leave in the middle of the season, but this year every one of our wrestlers stayed through the entire year," Grimmer said.
