TIMES FILE PHOTO - Tigard and Talatin's community theater, Mask & Mirror, is preparing for its fifth season, which kicks off this summer with 'Singin' in the Rain' at Tualatin High School.Mask & Mirror Community Theatre has announced the lineup for its 2015-16 season, which begins this summer.

The community theater produces musicals, comedies and dramas in Tigard and Tualatin.

Opening Aug. 14, "Singin' in the Rain" is the first Mask & Mirror production to be staged at the Tualatin High School auditorium.

Based on the MGM movie starring Gene Kelly, the Tualatin production will feature a full orchestra and more than 30 local actors and dancers.

A children's dance troupe, The Raindrops, will provide pre-show and intermission entertainment.

Proceeds from the production will be split between the theater and the Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools.

The rest of the theater's productions will be staged at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 10445 S.W. Canterbury Lane in Tigard.

Starting in November, the theater will put on "Christmas Belles," a comedic sequel to this year's production of "Dearly Beloved." This time, the Futrelle Sisters' Miss Geneva has been replaced as the long-time director of the Tabernacle of the Lamb’s Christmas Pageant.

In February, the theater will present "The Trip to Bountiful," which tells the story of an aging widow living with her son and daughter-in-law in Houston and feeling like an unwelcome guest. She finally gets away to make a pilgrimage to her old home of Bountiful and finds that nothing is the same. When her son appears to take her back to Houston, she returns secure in the knowledge that the remainder of her life will be enriched as a result of her last contact with Bountiful.

The season ends in May, with a murder mystery set in the Catskills. "Catch Me If You Can” tells the story of a woman who disappears from a mountain lodge, but later, a pretty young girl who insists that she is the missing wife enters the plot.

Before you know it there are two murders. The plot twists are intricate and surprising.

Season tickets for all four shows are now available at the special price of $50 for adults and $40 for seniors. More information is available at Mask & Mirror's website, calling 503-333-1139 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
