COURTESY OF THE TUALATIN CRAWFISH FESTIVAL - The logo, theme and presenting sponsor for this year's Tualatin Crawfish Festival were announced Thursday. You've got to love the classics, and that's what the annual Crawfish Festival is bringing back this August in Tualatin.

The festival announced Thursday its theme will be “Route 66,” appropriate for its 66th anniversary this year. Fittingly, there will be a classic car show, displaying muscle cars from 1978 and earlier, from noon to 3 p.m. on the third and final day of the festival.

This year's festival will also see the return of Hit Machine, the Scappoose-based classic rock cover band that played to the biggest Friday night crowd in the festival's history last year.

Opening night on Aug. 5 will feature a “Mystery Box” chef cook-off (in the style of the popular Food Network show “Chopped”), a live crawfish boil, food carts and the Hit Machine rock concert, all from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Tualatin Commons.

The festivities will continue from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Aug. 6 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 7 at Tualatin Community Park.

Columbia Bank, which has supported the Crawfish Festival in the past, is this year's presenting sponsor. Because of its sponsorship, Friday night's events will be free to the public.
