Dellerba named Tualatin High School principal
Tualatin High School Associate Principal Michael Dellerba will take the reins to head that school as principal effective July 1.
He replaces Darin Barnard who will becomes the Tigard-Tualatin School District's director of operations and bond projects.
Dellerba joined the Tualatin High staff this year, after having served as vice principal of Gardiner Middle School in the Oregon City School District for two years starting in 2015.
He brings extensive experience at the high school level to his new position, according to Susan Stark Haydon, a district spokeswoman. He began his career in 2000-01 as a social studies teacher at Portland's Marshall High School, later moving to Westview High School in the Beaverton School District where he taught social studies between 2001 and 2014.
Dellerba also coached a variety of sports ranging from football to golf.
In 2014-15, he became dean of students at Oregon City High School before accepting the administrative position at Gardiner Middle School.
In his various positions, he has provided leadership in curriculum development, student assessment and equity, according to Stark Haydon.
Dellerba earned his bachelor's degree in social studies from Western Oregon University in 1998 and his teaching certificate from Warner Pacific College in 2000.
In 2010, he earned his master's from Portland State and is currently a doctoral candidate at Lewis and Clark College.
He and his wife, Lyia, are parents of two young daughters.
