Mills named principal of Bridgeport Elementary
An experienced Tigard-Tualatin educator will become the new principal of Bridgeport Elementary School.
Jordan Mills will replace Debbie Ebert on July 1 when Ebert becomes the district's director of Human Resources.
Mills has spent her Tigard-Tualatin career at Metzger Elementary.
Metzger, like Bridgeport, is a Spanish-English Two-Way Immersion school. For the last two years she has worked at Metzger as a Teacher on Special Assignment, providing administrative support and helping with student behavior, professional development and parent/family communication.
Mills began her Tigard-Tualatin School District career in 2006 as a third-grade teacher at Metzger Elementary School.
In 2009, Mills and her husband joined the Peace Corps, serving for 2-1/2 years in Mozambique. She taught high school English there and led a Young Women's Empowerment group.
A Spanish-speaker herself, she spent two years in the Canby School District teaching Spanish Language Arts as part of a Native Language Development program. She rejoined the Metzger staff in 2014 as an English Language Development Specialist.
A Tigard High School graduate, Mills attended Metzger Elementary School and Fowler Middle School. She earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Linfield College, her master's from Portland State and completed her administrative work at George Fox.
Mills and her husband, Brian, have two daughters.
Meanwhile, her mother, Wendy Ballard Turner, was the first director of our district's Family Resource Center.
