The race is set for November, the first uncontested races in years for the community

FILE PHOTO - This will be the first time in years that there has been an uncontested mayors race along with having three council candidates vying for three open seats. There will be little nail biting in the upcoming Sherwood mayoral and City Council race in November after only one person filed for the mayor's seat and three candidates applied for three open council seats.

As of the filing deadline Tuesday, current Sherwood Mayor Keith Mays was the lone contender for the two-year mayor's seat. Mays most recently edged out Councilor Sean Garland to become mayor in a special election held in March.

Those filing for the three open positions include current Sherwood City Councilors Russell Griffin and Tim Rosener, whose partial terms expire in January. Also running is Doug Scott. Scott, who works in business development software, is a member of the Sherwood Planning Commission.

Current Councilor Jennifer Kuiper chose not to run for reelection.
