Lions Oktoberfest set for Oct. 6
The Tualatin Lions Club will host its annual Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Tualatin Valley Elks Lodge, 8350 S.W. Warm Springs Street.
The Lions will serve local German style sausage, or "wurst," from Zenner's Sausage Company of Northwest Portland along with locally produced sauerkraut, Hamburg-style deep fried potatoes (kartoffeln) with lots of salt and vinegar, dinner rolls and famous German apfle kuchen (apple harvest cake).
Coffee will be supplied by the Tualatin Dutch Brothers and the Elks bar has beer (even German seasonal), wine, sodas and cocktails. (All beverage proceeds from the Tualatin Valley Elks goes toward the Casey Eye Clinic at OHSU.)
Sponsored by Gramor Development, Oktoberfest entertainment will be provided by Victor Meindl of the West Linn Riverview Lions who will attend with his accordion and large repertoire of German songs.
In addition, Tualatin/Sherwood area merchants and businesses will donate to the event's 50/50 raffles.
Proceeds go to supporting Lions charitable work in the community, region and world.
The Tualatin Lions provide school vision screening throughout the region to exams and also donate to such organizations as the Tigard-Tualatin Schools Caring Closet, the Schoolhouse Pantry and the Oregon Food Bank. Also, the work of the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation sends every penny that comes in to the Tualatin Lions right back into the community.
Doors open at 5 p.m. and cost is $12 per person or $30 for a family of four.
