COURTESY OF WASHINGTON COUNTY - The much anticipated 124th Avenue extension, which takes motorists from Tualatin-Sherwood Road to I-5, officially opened today.The much anticipated 124th Avenue extension officially opened for traffic on Monday.

The new $24 million roadway takes motorists from Tualatin-Sherwood Road before shooting across Tonquin Road to connect to Basalt Creek Parkway in a route that eventually lets out at I-5 at Elligsen Road.

An official ribbon-cutting with dignitaries from local cities and Washington County was held Oct. 30. That same event also marked the completion of the largest section of the Willamette Water Supply's 30-mile pipeline, a pipeline that will eventually transmit water from the Willamette River from Wilsonville to Hillsboro.

The opening of the 1.8-mile extension from Tualatin-Sherwood Road to Tonquin Road was a 10-years-in-the-making project by Washington County.

COURTESY OF WASHINGTON COUNTY - The $24 million extension was 10 years in the making along a roadway that will contain industrial land and a new water treatment facility for the Willamette Water Supply, a pipline that runs from Wilsonville to Hillsboro.
