Chief Kathy McAlpine's discussion will discuss plans for photo red light cameras likely installed this spring

COURTESY CITY OF TIGARD - Kathy McAlpineThe "Chat with the Chief" series of talks with Tigard Police Chief Kathy Alpine continues on Jan. 16 with a discussion on photo traffic enforcement, which will be installed in the city this year.

The chat is set from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Tigard City Hall, 13135 S.W. Hall Boulevard.

The city plans to install photo red light cameras along Highway 99W at three intersections — Hall Boulevard, Durham Road and 72nd Avenue. Future plans are to give those same cameras the ability to ticket motorists who "speed on green."

Engineering studies, approval processes by the Oregon Department of Transportation and other collateral elements all leading up to the eventual rollout of the program are all occurring presently, according to a police spokesman. Tentative plans are to activate the equipment this spring.
