Woman suffers life-threatening injuries after being struck by commuter train
A woman suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a WES commuter train in Tigard Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Commercial Street, north of Highway 99W, with the closet cross street being 98th Avenue, according to Stefan Myers, a Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue spokesman.
Myers said while Life Flight was put on standby, the woman was taken by driven to the hospital.
TriMet shut down the train for a period of time and Tigard police handled the traffic situation.
Myers said he heard the train was traveling around 35 mph. when it struck the woman.
