Tigard High senior named to Rose Festival Court
A Tigard High School senior has been selected for the Portland Rose Festival Court representing the Metro West region.
Tori Lopez, the daughter of Jose Lopez and Theresa Wallace-Lopez, was named to the court Tuesday.
A member of the Tigard High golf team and social media chairwoman of the school's speech and debate team, Lopez is a member of numerous clubs including Key Club, Sparrow Club, the Spanish National Honor Society and the Finger Painting Club.
Lopez plans on attending George Fox University where she plans on studying biology as a pre-med student with hopes of pursuing a career in pediatric surgery.
In her spare time, she visits with memory care patients at Bonaventure Senior Living and also mentors high school students who are building an airplane in a hangar at Hillsboro Airport.
Asked by Rose Festival officials about what she is most proud of during her time at Tigard High School, Lopez replied: "I am proud of many things about my high school career, but most of all I'm proud of all the memories I'm creating with the people around me. Memories like going to Shari's after football games, dancing in the rain, getting my first A on an IB Chemistry test, watching Disney movies all night, and so many more."
The 2019 Portland Rose Festival Queen will be crowned at the Queen's Coronation presented by Unitus Community Credit Union Saturday, June 8, at 9:15 a.m., just before the Grand Floral Walk at 9:30 a.m. and the Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade at 10 a.m.
