COURTESY TIGARD POLICE DEPARTMENT - Saturdays shred event at Tigard City Hall will allow participants to dispose of  two hand-carry boxes, bags, or containers of paper documents. In an effort to reduce the risk of identity theft, the Tigard Police Department and Pride Recycling are hosting a free "shred" event on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Tigard City Hall, 13125 S.W. Hall Boulevard.

The free event is designed to allow residents to securely dispose of paper documents containing personal information.

Each household is limited to two hand-carry boxes, bags, or containers of paper documents with no exceptions.

Participants are asked not to bring garbage or any other items to the event and are asked to bring a non-perishable food item that will be donated to a local food pantry.

In addition, cash donations will be accepted.
